Director, May 4 Visitor Center
Kent State University Libraries seeks an engaged, forward-thinking, and passionate leader for the Kent State University May 4 Visitors Center. Building from the baseline presented in the recent revisioning document – found at https://www.kent.edu/may4visitorscenter/may-4-visitor-center-revisioning, the successful candidate will expand and grow the audiences for the Visitors Center; engage them with the history of May 4, 1970, making connections to events and issues of our time; and ensure that the Visitors Center remains a place of reflection, of education, and a resource for scholars.
Qualifications:
- Master of Library Science or related degree and six years’ relevant experience.
- Knowledge of: KSU May 4, 1970 history and Modern United States history
- Ability to:
- Stay current with new information on events related to May 1-4, 1970 at Kent State University
- Work across disciplines that share academic interests in May 4th related activities
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Direct, plan, and implement all aspects of the May 4 Visitors Center.
- Oversee budget, personnel, and Center’s activities.
- Oversee development, implementation, and revision of new and existing programs.
- Secure external funding to enhance and grow the Center’s public presence.
- Develop and execute outreach programming to a variety of communities (e.g., KSU students, K-12 students and educators, local community, national and international audiences).
- Provide direct supervision of unclassified staff.
- Oversee curation of exhibits and programming.
- Develop and maintain digital presence.
