Abstract: The collection contains records pertaining to the Kent State University Salem Campus including subject files, publications, and reports.
History of Kent State University Salem Campus: Kent State University Salem Campus (also known as Kent State University at Salem or Kent State University at Columbiana) was started as an outreach program in 1962. First located in the old Salem High School, the Salem Campus moved to its current location in 1971. In 2009, Salem Campus and Kent State's East Liverpool Campus merged to become Kent State University Columbiana Campus, with both branches remaining in their respective locations.
Scope and Content: This collection focuses on materials produced before the merge of Salem and East Liverpool created Columbiana Campus in 2009. It also includes materials created after 2009 that specifically center on Salem, as opposed to a focus of Columbiana Campus. The collection is made up of materials formerly housed in a vertical file in the Department of Special Collections and Archives. The records are composed mostly of subject files, publications and reports. Many of these materials were created by the Publications Office on the Kent State University main campus.
