Eleanor (Stone) Rolliff's Description of Phi Alpha Alpha, 1990

In May 1930 a group of girls, under the leadership of Grace Barker and Eleanor Stone, and composed of girls from Moulton Hall and friends, organized the Phi Alpha Alpha Sorority. They met in Moulton Hall or at times in class rooms in Merrill Hall. Doris Bob Kinneman, English teacher from the Training School, was advisor. Eleanor Stone was the first president. Activities included a theater party and dance (Guy Lombardo's orchestra) in Cleveland, a picnic at Eleanor Stone's in Atwater, initiation weekend at Brady Lake cottage (hiked to get there), and summer week camping at cottages at Brady Lake and Chippewa Lake. The group maintained a high scholastic average and enjoyed the close fellowship they developed.
