History of New Student Record
The Kent State University photo directories were previously known as the Photo Directory and Profiles "Look Around" before being known as the New Student Record. These publications were produced from 1967 through 1992 and were under the authority of the Student Government, Office of Advising and Orientation/Inter-Fraternity Council, Kent State Greeks, and most commonly the Orientation Honor Society. These photo directories, similar to yearbooks, were intended for use by incoming freshmen as a means to become acquainted with their fellow peers, university traditions and customs and other general information about Kent State University.
Scope and Content
This collection consists of at least one example of each year's New Student Record book, spanning from the published years 1967 to 1992. Some gaps appear in the collection, indicating either a lack of publications that year, or if they were published, are not included within this collection. The books are arranged by academic years in which they were produced. At present, the collection lacks the following years: 1968-1976; 1978; 1981-1982; 1991.
Statement of Arrangement
This collection is arranged chronologically, by date published. It should be noted that the date shown on several of the covers is the respective class's freshmen orientation year and publication date, not their graduating year.
